The GNR reported that following an alert about a forest fire, their officers immediately went to the site, where they found Águeda firefighters already working to extinguish the flames.
“During the police investigation, it was determined that the owner of the agricultural land, where the fire started, was working on his property when he noticed fire emanating from the lower part of the tractor. The vehicle was identified as the probable cause of the fire,” the statement noted.
The GNR stated that the 79-year-old man was named a suspect in the forest fire crime, and the details were forwarded to the Águeda Judicial Court.
