Two 31-year-olds, a man and a woman, were arrested for drug trafficking on Wednesday after being intercepted near the Penafiel tolls in the Porto district.
The National Republican Guard (GNR) reported on Sunday that in addition to the arrests, a 44-year-old man was also identified.
“Following a report of alleged drug trafficking in the Marco de Canaveses area, the Guard’s officers conducted investigative efforts culminating in the location of the suspects near the Penafiel tolls”, the GNR stated.
Authorities detailed that “during the operation, suspects were approached and personally searched, and a summary search of the vehicle was conducted,” during which they found the suspects in possession of drugs, “leading to their arrest in flagrante and the seizure” of several dozen drug doses and weapons.
The report noted the confiscation of 60 doses of heroin and 29 doses of cocaine. The GNR also seized two bladed weapons, “one of which was used for drug dosing.”
The case has been reported to the Penafiel Judicial Court.
