Pampilhosa da Serra deactivates emergency plan

Today, the mayor stated that there had been no active fire fronts in the municipality for the past 24 hours.

The fire affecting Pampilhosa da Serra started on the 13th in Piódão, Arganil, also in the district of Coimbra.

Over more than a week, this large-scale fire has extended beyond these two municipalities to Oliveira do Hospital (Coimbra district), Seia (Guarda district), and Castelo Branco, Covilhã, and Fundão (Castelo Branco district).

The decision to deactivate the plan, according to the municipality, stems from more favorable weather conditions in the last two days and the absence of active fire fronts in the area.

“With this decision, starting today, permits for festivals and events in the villages will resume validity, allowing local celebrations to proceed as normal,” the municipality stated.

This municipality in the interior of the Coimbra district urged the entire population to maintain responsible and safe behaviors, collaborate in territorial vigilance, and immediately report any risk situations to the authorities.

“Deactivating the plan does not mean the absence of dangers or incidents. Prevention remains essential,” it emphasized.

According to the latest provisional report by the Forest Fire Information Management System (SGIF), updated on Wednesday, the fire that began in Arganil is reported to have consumed 53,224 hectares.
