The PAN party has once again demanded the dismissal of the Secretary of State for Agriculture, João Moura, on Monday, September 15, after reports emerged of an investigation by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) into alleged corruption and money laundering.
In a post on the social network X, the party’s sole deputy, Inês Sousa Real, disclosed that PAN “has just submitted a set of questions to the Prime Minister” regarding the case, requesting the Secretary of State’s hearing in Parliament and questioning Luís Montenegro “whether he will dismiss João Moura” following today’s news reports.
In the tweet, the parliamentarian recalled that PAN “had already asked the Prime Minister to dismiss the Secretary of State João Moura for the blatant conflict of interest by being part of an honorary committee in an activity under his supervision.”
In light of these “recent corruption allegations,” Sousa Real questioned: “What is Luís Montenegro waiting for?”

Minister Investigated for Corruption Allegations
It was revealed today that Secretary of State for Agriculture João Moura is under investigation by the PJ for alleged corruption and money laundering, reportedly involving the flow of funds between his companies.
The suspicions focus on business dealings within João Moura’s companies.
Additionally, João Moura is said to own a company that manages a luxury property in Ribatejo, part of a Russian tourism project by Quadradoaometro, where he is a partner with his wife. This was not declared to the Transparency Entity (EpT).
The Polícia Judiciária is investigating the Secretary of State for Agriculture, João Moura, over allegations of corruption and money laundering. The inquiry focuses on the business activities of the minister’s companies.

João Moura’s Involvement in Bullfighting Honorary Committee
On top of these controversies, João Moura is embroiled in another issue. Several anti-bullfighting activists, along with PAN, have criticized the Secretary of State for Agriculture, who also oversees the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary (DGAV), for participating in the honorary committee of a bullfight. He was even honored during the event by bullfighter João Moura Júnior on Saturday, September 13, in Portalegre.
