
Portugal. The Man, Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory, and Zaho de Sagazan headline this year’s edition described by festival director João Carvalho as the “best ever.” Carvalho expressed his enthusiasm for the lineup, stating, “I always say it’s the best lineup because I always believe in it,” in a statement made to Lusa this week.
The festival, held in the village of Paredes de Coura in the Viana do Castelo district, will also feature performances by Black Country, New Road, DIIV, Perfume Genius, MJ Lenderman & The Wind, Nilüfer Yanya, Geordie Greep, Bar Italia, Jersey, Soft Play, Terno Rei, and Ana Frango Elétrico.
Throughout the four-day event, festival-goers will enjoy performances by La Mom, Ela Minus, Joey Valence & Brae, The Hellp, Cassandra Jenkins, Fat Dog, Lambrini Girls, Warmduscher, Hinds, Maruja, Don West, Cass McCombs, Gurriers, Being Dead, Badsista, Chastity Belt, Lander & Adriana, La Jungle, Dino d’ Santiago, Linda Martini, Samuel Úria, Capicua, Cassete Pirata, Memória de Peixe, and Unsafe Space Garden.
This year’s festival also introduces the concept “The Day After,” bringing music to the Taboão river beach on Sunday, offering a musical farewell until the early evening.
The festival hosts three podcasts, one for each day of the event: “The Law of Parity,” “Let’s Travel in Mayonnaise,” and “A Leste do Couraíso,” reflecting on the history of Paredes de Coura.
The Paredes de Coura festival originated in 1993, organized by a group of friends, including the current mayor of Paredes de Coura, with an aim to celebrate independent rock music.
