TAP carried 7.58 million passengers in the first half of the year, a 30.2% increase over the same period last year, the airline said today.
In a statement, TAP highlighted the “strong growth in intercontinental flights, particularly on routes to Brazil, North America and Africa, on which the Portuguese airline transported, from January to June, 2.17 million passengers, 31.1% more than in the same period last year.
Already compared to the same period in 2019, before the pandemic, passengers carried on those routes increased by 14.7%.
On European routes, including mainland Portugal and the islands of Madeira and the Azores, TAP carried a total of 5.41 million passengers during the period under review, which corresponds to a 29.8% year-on-year increase, but is still 10% less than the period before the pandemic.
The average flight load factor stood at 80.2%, up 5.5 percentage points from 2022 and already half a percentage point higher than before the pandemic.
In terms of the available seats per kilometer (ASK) indicator, the airline recorded a total of 25,015,746 in the first six months of the year, up 21.4% compared to the same period last year and 4.3% above the first half of 2019.
TAP highlighted further growth in demand, measured in revenue per kilometer (RPK), which stood at a total of 20,067,216, a 30.4% increase over the same period in 2022 and 5% above the pre-pandemic period.
