Former Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho reiterated on Tuesday that a potential candidacy for the Presidency is “out of the question,” as he intends to remain “out of public and political debate.”
“No, that is out of the question,” the social democrat said to journalists on the sidelines of the presentation of the anti-abortion book ‘My Body, My Life,’ as quoted by Renascença.
“The future is something we don’t know, fortunately. It is undetermined, but I have already said that I am out of public and political debate, and that is how I wish to remain,” he added.
In December, when his name was suggested as a potential candidate for the Presidency and appeared as one of the favorites in polls, Passos Coelho dismissed the possibility of running for office.
“I am out of party and political activity, and that is how I intend to remain,” stated Passos Coelho at the entrance to the FEP Global Summit – Student Summit on Geopolitics in Portugal, in Porto.

The former prime minister Pedro Passos Coelho declared today that he is out of party and political activity and wishes to continue in that manner, at a time when his name is pointed out as a potential candidate for the Presidency of the Republic.
