A man was taken into custody after attacking a police officer with a kitchen knife and vandalizing property belonging to the Public Security Police (PSP) in Braga. The incident occurred around 08:30 when the officer was leaving his shift. The officer sustained superficial injuries from the altercation.
The authorities report that the suspect had been throwing stones at a patrol car, resulting in significant damage to its windshield and front right window. Additionally, the entrance windows of the police station and its customer service office were smashed.
An anonymous PSP official stated that the individual had also thrown stones and bottles at the police headquarters building.
The suspect was promptly apprehended, and the injured officer was transported to a hospital for medical attention.
The PSP has announced that further details will be disclosed at a later time.
