Paulo Macedo chairs the General Council of the University of Aveiro

Paulo Macedo has been appointed as one of the five external advisors for the University of Aveiro, taking office on Tuesday and being elected to lead the institution’s governing body.

“Paulo Macedo, President of the Executive Committee and Vice President of the Board of Directors of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, S.A., was elected president following the meeting that took place after the induction of the new board members,” announces the University of Aveiro (UA).

Paulo Macedo holds a degree in Business Management from ISEG/University of Lisbon. He has previously served as the Minister of Health in the XIX Constitutional Government and the Director General of Taxes.

The other external advisors inaugurated were Ana Figueiredo (CEO of MEO), Dino D’Santiago (musician), Maria João Ruela (advisor for Social Affairs to the Presidency of the Republic), and Sofia Crisóstomo Silva (TRIVALOR group).

“The rector of the University of Aveiro, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, welcomed the new members and expressed the Rectorate’s satisfaction in continuing to include external personalities in the general council, hoping they will find the best solutions for the institution’s strategic issues,” states a message on UA’s official page.

The general council of the University of Aveiro consists of 19 members, including 10 representatives of professors and researchers, three students, one representative of technical, administrative, and management staff, and five external figures of recognized merit.
