MP Paulo Núncio will be the next parliamentary leader of the CDS-PP, the party announced today.
“Paulo Núncio, deputy elected by the Lisbon constituency, vice-president of the CDS-PP and former Secretary of State for Tax Affairs, was today elected president of the CDS-PP Parliamentary Group,” the note sent to the Lusa news agency said.
In the last legislative elections, the CDS-PP elected two MPs: Paulo Núncio, for Lisbon, and Nuno Melo, for the Porto constituency.
The president of the CDS-PP is leaving parliament because he takes office today as Minister of National Defense, but he still took part in the election for the leadership of the caucus.
The next CDS-PP nominee on the list for Porto is party vice-president and former MP Álvaro Castello-Branco, who will replace Nuno Melo, an official centrist source confirmed to Lusa.
The CDS-PP ran in the legislative elections on March 10 in coalition with the PSD and PPM, the parties that formed the Democratic Alliance (AD).
