Paulo Raimundo believes there are no “big waves of indecision”

“The municipal elections have this unique characteristic, being campaigns heavily on the ground, closely connected to people. People know each other, and I don’t see there being major waves of indecision today,” Paulo Raimundo stated to journalists after casting his vote in section 16 at the Alhos Vedros Basic School, in Quinta Fonte da Prata, in the Moita municipality, where 807 voters are registered.

The communist leader suggested that the future municipal map will reflect the people’s will, indicating uncertainty about significant changes from 2021.

After voting, Paulo Raimundo planned to spend the day with his family, as revealed, before heading to the PCP headquarters in Lisbon to follow the election results.

More than 9.3 million voters are eligible to vote in these municipal elections, according to enrollment data provided by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI).

Of the 9,303,840 registered voters, 9,262,722 are nationals, while 18,319 are EU foreign voters, and 22,799 are non-EU foreigners, all registered within national territory.

Voters will select the governing bodies of the 308 Municipal Chambers, 308 Municipal Assemblies, and 3,221 Parish Assemblies, resulting in three ballots.

In total, 1,584 lists of parties, coalitions, and citizen groups are vying for the Municipal Chambers, 1,519 for the Municipal Assemblies, and 9,764 lists for Parish Assemblies, according to the latest data from the MAI’s General Secretariat.
