The family allowance, one of the benefits that will see an increase in payment this month, will be disbursed with retroactive adjustments dating back to January, due to a recent update by the Government. The Social Security is scheduled to distribute this amount on April 16, coinciding with the distribution of Family Benefits.
The payment schedule was disclosed yesterday by the relevant authority, with detailed dates available.
The family allowance, it should be noted, is a monthly financial aid aimed at supporting families in the upbringing and education of children and young people. According to Social Security, “there are five brackets, with the lower brackets receiving more“.
DECO PROTeste also highlighted that this “support is exclusively for families with lower incomes and, from the age of 16, only for those who continue their studies”.
“The family allowance will increase in April, with retroactive effect from January. The decree setting the payable amounts for 2025 has already been published, raising the maximum support for the first income bracket by about four euros, to 186.87 euros per month,” notes the consumer protection organization.
