“This is the program that strengthens and supports the policy of deals and schemes to extract resources from the State, which means taking from each of our pockets all possible transfers to hand over to those who think they own the country,” stated Paulo Raimundo during the CDU regional gathering in Estarreja, Aveiro district.
In his speech, the communist leader emphasized that the election results created conditions to enhance the policies of inequality and exploitation. He cited the Government’s program as an example, asserting that, as warned by the communists, it is “a propaganda program, a business program, and one filled with deals.”
“It’s the deal within the National Health Service, transferring everything to those who turn illness into a business, it’s the deal on housing, providing more support and benefits to banks, it’s the deal around privatizations, notably with TAP, but it’s not just TAP, it’s everything,” he said.
Raimundo further accused the Government led by Luís Montenegro of attempting to dismantle labor laws “to further precarize, to increase working hours and work time,” and urged opposition parties to reject this program.
“Those who accused us of acting hastily still have time to acknowledge and, alongside us, prevent this Government program from advancing (…) We would not allow such a program to bypass the Assembly,” he stated.
The program of the XXV Constitutional Government was submitted today to the Assembly of the Republic and will be debated on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The document includes 10 priority areas, pledging to “a policy of income that values work and savings, merit and social justice,” state reform, and wealth creation.
Other priorities outlined by the Government include “regulated and humanistic immigration,” quality public services, a commitment to “closer security, faster justice and combating corruption,” housing, the construction of new infrastructures, the “water that unites” project, and a “strategic defense investment reinforcement plan.”
