PCP says that the motion of censure served to clarify positions

“We finished today the discussion of the Government’s program. It is a program of a Government that confronts the difficult life of people; it is a declaration of war to those who work, to those who make the country function, who create wealth, who drive the economy. It’s a disastrous path that the PCP could not ignore,” he said.

“And this is the fundamental reason why we presented and voted on the motion of censure. It was defeated, it’s true, but it had two great virtues: the first is that it forced the debate to be held under conditions necessary for that debate; and the second is that it clarified the positioning of everyone,” added Paulo Raimundo, speaking to hundreds of people at the presentation of the CDU municipal candidates in Palmela, in the district of Setúbal.

For the communist leader, the PCP’s motion of censure made it clear who supports the “unfair policy” that the current Government plans to implement in this legislature.

“Chega, the Liberal Initiative, and the Socialist Party form the trio that supports this policy that reeks of ‘troika’. Now, we don’t need policies that smell like ‘troika’, we need what fulfills a better life to which we all have a right, ensuring that the Constitution is reflected in the lives of everyone every day, in all its articles, in article 70 about youth, in article 65 about the right to housing, in article 64 ensuring health for everyone equally, regardless of each one’s financial conditions,” he said.

“This is what we need, to fulfill the Constitution in all its articles, making each one a reality. And the life of the majority will certainly be better,” added the communist leader.

At the public session held at Largo de São João, where the CDU candidates in Palmela were presented, led by head of the list Ana Teresa Vicente, Paulo Raimundo also appealed to everyone to participate in the march “Fulfill the Constitution, increase wages and pensions for a better life,” promoted by the PCP on June 26 in Lisbon and Porto.
