PCP will talk “about the lives of 10 million people” and not “about one person’s.”

“We either talk about the life of one person, or we talk about the lives of 10 million people, and we will choose to talk about the lives of 10 million people regarding pensions, housing, health, children’s rights, peace, and the paths to peace,” declared Paulo Raimundo in Porto during the inauguration of the mural ‘Cumprir’ commemorating the 25th of April.

However, the secretary-general of the PCP issued a warning: “There is something I will say to you candidly, this clarification that the prime minister (…) should have resigned will be a constant in our political stance during the electoral campaign because nothing else discovered or explained will change this fact.”

He further criticized, stating, “Luis Montenegro should have resigned; that was the significant contribution he should have made towards the credibility of national political life. Instead, he decided to bypass it, to save his image.”

When asked about the government’s intention to lower IRS rates, Paulo Raimundo accused the administration of propaganda: “We have been faced with two fundamental lines, propaganda, which refers to the announcements we hear every morning as we are in an electoral campaign, another load of announcements, and then reality.”

He elaborated, “The reality is that what significantly decreased, what made a difference, was the reduction in IRC for large corporations, a reduction of 365 million for big businesses.”

“For the majority of us, it’s propaganda; for the large corporations, it is an effective cut of 365 million euros,” he remarked.

The PCP unveiled today in Porto, near the Trindade metro station, the mural “Cumprir,” created by artist Miguel Januário. It features 736 tiles made by artists, children, and various participants in workshops across the country over the past two years.

“April is not a memory, nor will it be a memory. It is a more just and dignified sphere of values, and there will always be someone here to defend it,” stated Miguel Januário during the unveiling ceremony of the artwork.
