A Spanish priest sentenced to 32 years in prison for sexual abuse of minors in Spain, who has been on the run for 17 months, may be in Portugal.
On Monday, Spanish authorities shared a photograph of the 42-year-old priest on social media platform X, identifying him as one of the country’s most wanted men and “dangerous.”
According to the National Police, Segundo Cousido Vieites “took advantage of his position as a teacher to abuse minors.”
The authorities describe him as a man of strong build, 1.80 meters tall, with brown hair and eyes, and encourage potential witnesses to provide information about his whereabouts. “If you have any information, send it to lo************@po*****.es,” the tweet reads.
He raped three young students while they slept
According to La Voz de Galicia, Segundo Cousido Vieites was sentenced in 2021 to 32 years in prison for abusing six students from Vigo, under 15 years old, while they slept at a camp near the Arousa estuary.
The priest has been on the run for 17 months, since March 1, 2021, the day he was supposed to turn himself in to the prison.
On March 17, the same newspaper reveals, the Pontevedra Court issued an international search warrant, “suspecting that the criminal might be hiding in Portugal or another country outside the continent.”
The tweet from the National Police includes a description of the suspect and a request for information, along with the hashtag #LosMásBuscados (The Most Wanted).
