The profane and the sacred will mark the Festas do Município de Vagos, with Pedro Abrunhosa and Kura as headliners on stage and Santa Maria de Vagos as queen of the celebrations, over five days in May.
“One of the novelties of the Vagos Municipality Festivities will be the return of the gastronomic taverns that will be installed in the parking lot of Avenida Dr. Lúcio Vidal, organized by the Parish Council of Vagos and Santo António,” revealed the Vagos City Council.
The Vagos Festivities will take place from May 17 to 21, in honor of Our Lady of Vagos and the Divine Holy Spirit.
According to the Aveiro municipality, the festival kicks off on May 17 with the Portuguese artist FF, who will be on stage at Quinta do Ega with the Vaguense Philharmonic, offering a combination of pop and classical music.
The first night ends with performances by DJ Maskarilha and DJ Martinez from Vagua.
The second day of the festivities will begin with the sounds of traditional Portuguese music, echoed through the streets of the town by the Côdeas do Diabo.
This day’s program also includes the premiere of the play “As Hospedeiras”, by the Fantastic Theatre Group of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vagos, in the auditorium of the Centro de Educação e Recreio de Vagos.
On the Quinta do Ega stage will be the Moonshiners from Aveiro, DJ Kura and, later, DJ Joni from Vagua.
On May 19, the sacred and the profane mingle with the procession of the Divine Holy Spirit through the streets of the town of Vagos in the afternoon, accompanied by the Vaguense Band.
The night is hosted by Pedro Abrunhosa, Insert Coin and DJ Nadja.
On May 20, the Day of the Municipality is commemorated, which is also dedicated to Santa Maria de Vagos.
“Another of the highlights of this moment of religious fervor, the Blessing of the Bodo, is reserved for mid-afternoon,” said the town hall.
This afternoon will also see the awarding of municipal merit diplomas to students from the municipality, who attend the Vagos School Group, the Nossa Senhora da Apresentação de Calvão College and the Vagos Professional School of Agriculture and Rural Development.
In the evening, starting at 9pm, the Candlelight Procession will take place from the Shrine to the center of the town of Vagos, where there will be a Serenade to Our Lady of Vagos.
The last day of the festivities will feature the traditional sardinhada, musically accompanied by the duo Paulo Matos and Diana Matos.
