Benfica’s high jumper Pedro Buaró today secured the qualifying mark for the Paris2024 Olympic Games, in the pole vault discipline, after surpassing the 5.82 meter mark in Pombal.

At Expocentro, the venue for the first round of the indoor athletics Club Nationals, the ‘red’ athlete also set a new absolute national record, improving on the mark he already held by seven centimeters, which was achieved during the Perche Elite Tour de Dévoluy, in France, on January 14 this year.

In Pombal, the high jumper secured victory in the discipline at 5.30 meters, then progressed to 5.82.

Pedro Buaró still tried to secure the qualifying mark for the World Championships, set at 5.90 meters, but he was unable to do so.
