Pedro Coelho is the lead candidate of the PSD/CDS coalition for Madeira

As announced by PSD/Madeira today, Pedro Coelho tops the list of candidates, followed by Vânia Jesus, Paulo Neves, Bruno Sousa, Ana Cristina Monteiro (CDS-PP), and Bruna Perry.

The Madeira constituency elects six deputies to the Assembly of the Republic. In the last term, its representation comprised three PSD members (Pedro Coelho, Paulo Neves, and Paula Margarido), two from the PS party (Carlos Pereira and Miguel Iglésias), and one from Chega (Francisco Gomes).

In the lineup of candidates, PSD/Madeira retains Pedro Coelho and Paulo Neves and nominates Vânia Jesus, who previously served as the president of the Madeira Employment Institute and was a deputy in São Bento between 2009 and 2011.

The coalition partner CDS-PP has put forward Ana Cristina Monteiro, a lawyer and president of the Venezuelan Immigrant Community Association in Madeira (Venecom), who has served as a deputy in the Madeiran parliament.

The early national legislative elections are scheduled for May 18.

The PS/Madeira also unveiled its list of candidates today, led by Emanuel Câmara, the president of the Porto Moniz City Council in northern Madeira, who is concluding his third term.

The socialist candidates for the Madeira constituency include Sofia Canha in second place, followed by Gonçalo Jardim, Patrícia Agrela, Nilson Jardim, and Catarina Nuna.

On March 13, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa announced the early national legislative elections for May 18, following the rejection of the confidence motion in the government led by social democrat Luís Montenegro.
