Pedro Nuno angry? Only with “results of the Government’s incompetence”

After concluding a rally in Évora, the Socialist Party’s campaign trail moved to Portalegre for an open-air evening event, where Pedro Nuno Santos addressed criticisms from the Prime Minister. Earlier in Évora, the Prime Minister had criticized opponents for consistently speaking negatively and appearing “angry every day.”

“Luís Montenegro said earlier today at a rally that I am upset with the country’s successes. Let it be clear, I am not upset with the country, much less with the successes of the Portuguese people. However, I am angry with the results of the incompetence of the government led by Luís Montenegro,” Santos retorted.

The Secretary-General of the Socialist Party questioned, “What success is Luís Montenegro talking about?” He went on to highlight what he considered to be the failures of the AD government, particularly in areas such as the economy and health.

“What success? Who is Luís Montenegro addressing when he claims we’re upset with success? No. Luís Montenegro failed. And it took only a year for us to realize the government is incompetent,” he criticized.

Pedro Nuno Santos again addressed Luís Montenegro directly, accusing him of having a “lack of understanding about the reality faced by pensioners.” He referred to footage he watched today depicting an interaction involving the AD leader and the issue of medication subsidies.

“Until this moment, I believe Luís Montenegro did not understand what the lady told him. Because Luís Montenegro might be genuinely convinced that he ensured 100% medication subsidies for all pensioners,” he stated.

The socialist leader added, “Dear Luís Montenegro, the overwhelming majority of pensioners, even those with low pensions, do not receive full coverage for their medication.”
