Pedro Nuno issues warning and appeal: “Let no one waste their vote”

“Do not waste votes. It is within our reach to defeat the AD, but to do this, we all need to understand that in several electoral districts of the country, votes cannot be lost,” stated the PS leader at a rally held in Évora, near a similar campaign event by the AD, attended by Prime Minister Luis Montenegro.

Pedro Nuno Santos emphasized the importance of concentrated voting. “And one of those districts is Évora. To defeat the AD, we need to concentrate votes on the PS to win the elections on May 18,” he insisted.

In the last legislative elections, the PS secured one parliamentary seat in the Évora district, as did the AD, while Chega gained the third mandate allocated to the Alentejo electoral circle.

During his speech in the Alentejo city, Pedro Nuno Santos also accused the government of failing in the health sector.

“Luis Montenegro leaves us with chaos and instability in the health sector. We are already on the third SNS executive director, the third president of INEM. More than 16 hospital administrations have either resigned or been dismissed,” the socialist leader declared.

Pedro Nuno Santos further highlighted the increasing waiting lists for consultations and surgeries and mentioned that “the number of patients without a family doctor is currently 50,000,” which exceeds last year’s figures.

“The government has failed in an area it could not afford to fail, it has failed in health,” he emphasized.

Additionally, he pointed out failures in housing and the economy.

“The economy is fundamental. It serves as a base for building a society with more security and opportunities because, ultimately, we aim to guarantee security for the Portuguese people, security on the streets, physical security, obviously,” he stated.

He continued: “For us, security is much more than physical security; it encompasses security in our lives, job security, retirement security after a lifetime of work, security when we are ill, and the security of having the right to a home.”

For Pedro Nuno Santos, this security represents one of the “great values and objectives” of the PS.

“This is why, when we present our program, we propose measures ensuring security for all, not just a few. When this party was founded 52 years ago by Mário Soares and its founders, it was to establish a party that governed for everyone, never for a minority, never for an elite, never for a few, but for all,” he highlighted further.
