The request for the suspension of Pedro Nuno Santos’ mandate as a deputy spans 180 days and is justified by “significant personal and professional reasons.”
The former socialist secretary-general will step down from his duties starting the 24th of this month, thus being absent from parliament during the discussion and general vote on the State Budget scheduled for October 27 and 28.
After the electoral setback in the legislative elections of May, Pedro Nuno Santos resigned from the leadership of the PS on the election night itself.
After considering whether to continue as a deputy, the former PS leader indicated in early June that he would, for the time being, assume his position in the parliamentary benches.
