“The only thing I can tell you is that, in these last few days, people need to question whether those who pushed us to elections because they felt cornered deserve to be reelected,” stated Pedro Nuno Santos during a visit to the market in Gondomar, Porto district, on the penultimate day of campaigning.
The Secretary-General urged people to reflect and questioned whether “those who caused the elections deserve to be rewarded.”
When asked about his speech from the previous day and his willingness to make concessions in the quest for a governance solution, he replied that “it’s one thing at a time” and reiterated the stance he has been advocating in recent days.
“First, we need to win the elections, and then with the parliament that emerges on May 18, we will certainly be able to, as the Socialist Party has several times in the past, with myself playing an important role, ensure the conditions for a stable government for the next four years, which is what we need,” he asserted.
