The mayor stated that “the liability is currently reduced to a small loan of 600,000 euros, taken for the works on the Teatro Clube de Penamacor.”
The president of the municipality of Penamacor, in the district of Castelo Branco, noted that the accounts show they transitioned to the new year “with a cash surplus exceeding three million euros.”
“These are completely comfortable accounts, allowing us to clearly look forward with a perspective of empowering the municipality for significant investment,” said António Beites in statements to Lusa agency.
He indicated that a very extensive set of projects has been completed, and a significant number of contracts have been launched, which he asserted the municipality is prepared to support, in addition to community funding.
“We have that treasury capacity that enables the municipality to leverage all these types of investments that are intended to be executed,” he added.
The overall execution rate, encompassing both current and capital expenses, was “the highest ever, at 65%,” equivalent to 14 million euros.
The execution rate for capital expenditures was approximately 30%.
António Beites emphasized the focus on improving the lives of residents, investments in the parishes, and the commitment to strengthening the centrality of the town of Penamacor, reinforcing the central strategic axis in the headquarters of the municipality through a series of works set to be completed in 2024.
The Teatro Clube de Penamacor is set to be inaugurated “after May 18.”
The accounts for the 2024 fiscal year were approved on Tuesday night, with a dissenting vote from the independent movement Abraçar Penamacor.
