The sub-regional commander of Greater Lisbon, Hugo Santos, reported that heavy rains caused the overflow of the Trancão River in the Flamenga area in Lisbon. This led to road closures and the necessity to remove some individuals from their vehicles.
“We have information that at this moment, 30 to 40 people are being relocated to a dry and safe area after being cut off by the intense rain in this area,” he stated, emphasizing that the operation was ongoing as of 7:00 PM.
According to the commander, the people being relocated were in some vehicles and others in residences.
Hugo Santos also noted that houses have been flooded in this area, as well as in Loures and Odivelas.
