The district of Faro will be under a yellow warning for “persistently high maximum temperatures” starting from 12:00 p.m. on Saturday until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, as stated by the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
Évora, Portalegre, and Castelo Branco are also issued a yellow warning from 12:00 p.m. on Sunday until 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
The yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued whenever there is a potential risk for certain weather-dependent activities.
Given the forecast of high temperatures, the Directorate-General of Health advises the public to regularly consume water, wear loose and fresh clothing, and apply sunscreen every two hours.
Exposure to the sun is discouraged between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Special care is advised for the elderly, children, and chronic patients, who should stay in cooler environments and shielded from the sun, according to health authorities.
