The Pestana Hotel Group, the largest multinational hotel group of Portuguese origin, announced its expansion in Europe with the acquisition of a new hotel in Brussels. The hotel’s specifics were disclosed as the Pestana Brussels Schuman, an urban hotel with 150 rooms.
José Roquette, the Chief Development Officer of the group, stated that the integration of this new hotel into the Pestana Hotel Group’s portfolio represents another significant step in the company’s internationalization strategy.
Since 2010, the Pestana Hotel Group has established itself in major European cities, starting with London (2010), followed by Berlin (2011), Barcelona (2013), Amsterdam (2018), Madrid (2019), and now Brussels (2025), with a hotel in construction in Paris, expected to open in 2027.
Roquette noted that the acquisition reflects the group’s “long-term vision,” translating into a sustainable and strategic operation, reinforcing its ambition to be present in “the world’s major cities,” thus consolidating the Pestana brand globally.
The Pestana Brussels Schuman will be operated under the group’s Hotels & Resorts brand as a four-star hotel located in the Schuman district, at Place Jean Rey.
“Surrounded by the iconic Parc Leopold—a renowned green space combining tranquility and historical heritage—the hotel is just meters away from the European Parliament and the European Commission, key centers of political and diplomatic decision-making,” he highlighted.
