Information was disclosed today confirming that a decision was made by the prosecutor general’s office allowing Judge Ivo Rosa access to three closed investigations. This development follows Rosa’s hierarchical complaint after his initial request for access was denied by the Supreme Court.
The Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed that the complaints had been considered and approved, acknowledging a “clear interest in accessing the files.” A recent dispatch highlighted this decision, suggesting a strong public interest in the matters.
Previously, the Supreme Court’s Public Prosecutor had denied Rosa’s access to investigations in which he was implicated but ultimately dismissed. This denial was notably given by the same prosecutor who had ruled out an inquiry into allegations of corruption, embezzlement, and money laundering, deeming the original complaint baseless.
In 2021, Ivo Rosa was pivotal in the legal proceedings concerning the “Operation Marquês,” a high-profile case involving former Prime Minister José Sócrates. Rosa’s role led to several charges against Sócrates being dropped. Since 2022, Rosa has served at the Lisbon Court of Appeal.
The situation was initially unveiled by CNN/TVI.
