Pharmacies can now have immediate access to the availability of medications.

The National Authority for Medicines and Health Products announced a new functionality developed in collaboration with Infarmed, the Association of Pharmaceutical Distributors (ADIFA), and the National Association of Pharmacies (ANF). This feature allows information to be directly integrated into the software used by distributors and pharmacies.

Previously, pharmacies were unable to immediately track the status of orders through distributor portals under various classifications such as “available,” “available in limited quantity,” “out of stock until…,” and “no stock at distributor.”

With the new functionality, pharmacies will have real-time access to the marketing status of medicines, including stock shortages and restocking forecasts.

“These measures are crucial for achieving greater transparency, harmonization, and accurate information delivery to the patient,” Infarmed clarified, adding that this new functionality contributes to “more efficient management, increased uniformity of information throughout the distribution circuit, and more precise communication with patients.”
