A 41-year-old woman reported to the Public Security Police (PSP) on August 22 that, while depositing money from pharmacy proceeds at a bank, she was accosted by two men, one wielding a knife.
The woman stated that one of the men pointed the knife at her legs and seized a black bag containing approximately 2,600 euros.
Following testimony collection and review of surveillance footage, the PSP determined that the reported crime did not occur.
When confronted with the evidence, the suspect admitted that her account was false and that she had appropriated the money.
The woman has been charged with the crime of simulating illegal appropriation.
“The PSP warns that false reports constitute criminal offenses under current legal regulations,” the press release stated.
