
The festival program, dedicated to the pianist and composer Filipe de Sousa (1927-2006), begins on Thursday with the concert ‘An Hour with Chopin,’ directed by maestro Ferreira Lobo with Bruno Coelho and Nuno Botelho on the Portuguese guitar, the Mafra Music Festival Orchestra, and pianist Jill Lawson, at the Beatriz Costa Municipal Auditorium in Mafra.
On Friday, the South Wing of Mafra Palace hosts a piano recital by Portuguese pianist Artur Pizarro.
In the same location, the following day, German pianist Rüya Taner will perform in a concert titled ‘Turkey at the Festival,’ while on Sunday, there will be a piano recital by Portuguese pianist Rafael Kyrychenko.
The Mafra Music Festival ‘Filipe de Sousa’ continues on the 25th with the concert ‘Macau in Mafra,’ featuring the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Jia Lei Modern College Music School Orchestra, and Portuguese pianist Rodrigo Teixeira, conducted by maestro Leung Kin-fung, at the South Wing of Mafra Palace.
The festival concludes on the 26th with the concert ‘Open Letter to Constança Melo’ by pianist Eduardo Jordão and soprano Constança Melo at the Beatriz Costa Municipal Auditorium in Mafra.
The Mafra Music Festival ‘Filipe de Sousa’ is organized by the Mafra City Council and the Jorge Álvares Foundation, with executive production by Décima Colina and artistic direction by Adriano Jordão.
