
The Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) apprehended a 35-year-old pickpocket last Wednesday in the Santa Maria Maior parish, Lisbon.
Taking advantage of a high tourist traffic area and hour, the man, who was already “known to the authorities” for such crimes and had previously been detained in February, stole from the “interior of a backpack a woman was wearing, a wallet containing money, documents, and a pair of glasses, totaling 410 euros”.
The woman’s belongings were recovered and returned to her, according to the PSP statement.
The pickpocket underwent an initial judicial interrogation and was scheduled for trial.
