Pingo Doce launches novelty: Wants to arrive ‘alone’ at the customers’ homes

Pingo Doce has announced a significant development in its retail operations, initiating online sales directly through its website starting this Wednesday. This move marks the end of its previous partnership with Mercadão.

“While our collaboration with Mercadão was a valuable step into online sales, providing customers with the convenience of shopping, we realized that offering our customers the full online shopping experience they expect from Pingo Doce was not feasible through third parties,” explained Francisco Soure, Director of Innovation and Digital at Pingo Doce, to the Eco news outlet.

The initial regions to enjoy this direct service from the retailer are Lisbon and Porto, with plans in place for further expansion across Portugal.

For the past seven years, Pingo Doce’s presence in e-commerce had been facilitated through a partnership with Mercadão. However, the retail chain is now poised to engage directly with its customer base through its own site.

“With our online store, we are committed to delivering the full Pingo Doce experience,” Francisco Soure stated. “This commitment encompasses three pillars: access to excellent fresh products, the availability of promotional dynamics in online purchases, and the inclusion of all the benefits and personalization features that are hallmarks of the O Meu Pingo Doce loyalty program.”
