A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking in Mondim de Basto, Vila Real district, the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) announced on Friday, July 4, in a statement to Notícias ao Minuto.
According to investigators, the arrest took place on Wednesday, July 3, in the border area of Mondim de Basto, with the suspect being caught “in the course of a criminal activity under investigation.”
Following the arrest, the PJ conducted several searches, both residential and non-residential, which led to the seizure of “significant” amounts of drugs, including cocaine and amphetamines, as well as approximately tens of thousands of euros in cash, which also “represents a strong indication” of drug trafficking.
The man will now be brought for an initial interrogation to determine the appropriate coercive measures deemed necessary.
