The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) has detained a 75-year-old man who was sought by France after being sentenced to five years in prison for the crime of child sexual abuse.
According to a statement released this Friday by the authorities, the man committed these crimes against his granddaughters.
“Between 2010 and 2012, during a visit to his son’s family home in a locality in France, he subjected the granddaughters, then aged 6 and 12, to significant sexual acts”, detailed the PJ.
The man, detained under a European arrest warrant, will be brought before the Lisbon Court of Appeal for a decision on and application of preventive measures.
