The Judicial Police (PJ) announced the arrest of an individual subject to a European arrest warrant issued by Danish judicial authorities, suspected of drug trafficking.
“In August this year, in collaboration and prior agreement with accomplices, with the intent to supply a significant number of people or in exchange for a substantial payment, he was caught in possession of 55.4 kilograms of narcotics and a large sum of money,” stated the PJ.
The PJ further explained that “while being transported by police, he managed to escape, and his whereabouts were unknown until now.”
Through “persistent investigative work, it was possible to locate and apprehend the wanted individual,” the statement added.
According to the PJ, the man “could face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison” and will appear before the Lisbon Court of Appeal for the application of a coercive measure.
