PJ conducts searches at the Nazaré Chamber. APA and Docapesca also targeted.

The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) conducted search operations this morning at the Nazaré Municipality, five state entity locations, the headquarters of three businesses, and a tourist enterprise.

An official statement outlined that fifteen search warrants were executed in Lisbon, Caldas da Rainha, and Nazaré.

A source connected to the investigation informed Lusa that the Nazaré Municipality, Portuguese Environment Agency, Docapesca, Directorate of Lighthouses, and the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Regional Coordination and Development Commission were among the entities searched.

The criminal investigation focuses on alleged crimes of economic participation in business, forgery, corruption, and money laundering. Central to the investigation is a 40-year concession contract involving the private use of a public maritime domain area, which includes the public water domain in the port area of Porto de Abrigo da Nazaré. This contract pertains to the rehabilitation and conservation of nine houses intended for tourism.

Operation Duna involved 40 criminal investigators and forensic police specialists from the PJ, along with three Public Prosecutor magistrates.

The investigation will continue with the analysis of the evidence collected, both documentary and digital, to thoroughly determine all criminal acts.
