
The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) confirmed on Friday, September 5th, the nationalities of the 16 fatalities from the accident involving the Elevador da Glória in Lisbon.
According to investigators, after scientific identification with the assistance of the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, information reveals that among the victims are five Portuguese, two South Koreans, one Swiss, three British, two Canadians, one Ukrainian, one American, and one French individual.
In total, the victims of the tragic accident that occurred on Wednesday, September 3rd, represent eight different nationalities.
The PJ also confirms that the German citizen initially reported as deceased was later found, overnight, to be hospitalized at São José Hospital.
The German individual is reportedly the father of a three-year-old boy, whose story was shared by various media outlets, due to the child being cared for by strangers at the scene of the accident, including an officer from the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP).
