The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) on Thursday arrested a man who almost ten years ago killed another person in the state of Goiás, Brazil.
The PJ reported on Friday that the arrest was carried out by the Criminal Information Unit in compliance with an international arrest warrant “issued last August by the Brazilian judicial authorities.”
Authorities explained that the 31-year-old man is suspected of having fired “several gunshots that caused the death of another man in public” in 2015.
“After the shooting, the arrested man traveled to Portugal, where he has been for about nine years, currently working as a driver. He lives with his Portuguese partner and a minor daughter, and his residence status in the national territory is regularized,” the note stated.
According to the PJ, the man could be sentenced to 30 years in prison. He has appeared in court and has been placed in pre-trial detention awaiting further extradition proceedings.
On Friday, the PJ also announced the arrest of another 31-year-old man who was wanted by Brazilian authorities after robbing an ATM at a São Paulo supermarket in 2017.

The arrest took place on Wednesday in the Lisbon area. The man had been in Portugal since 2017, the same year he robbed an ATM inside a supermarket in São Paulo, Brazil.
