A statement released on the website of the Regional Prosecutor of Évora indicates that suspects were arrested following the issuance of European arrest warrants by Spanish judicial authorities, suspected of crimes committed in Madrid last March.
Authorities from the Polícia Judiciária reported that the arrests took place in Entroncamento and Santa Margarida, located in the district of Santarém, and in Nisa, in the district of Portalegre.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects appeared today before the Court of Appeal in Évora.
“The said citizens opposed their surrender to the Spanish authorities,” stated the Public Prosecutor, adding that “in accordance with the Public Prosecutor’s recommendation, it was determined that they should await the proceedings while detained.”
