Four individuals were apprehended in Lisbon this week on charges of aggravated drug trafficking, as announced by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) in a communication. The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation aiming to identify and dismantle a criminal organization whose primary objective was the removal of significant quantities of narcotics from Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, substances arriving via flights from South American countries.
The PJ further disclosed that they seized approximately 56.5 kg of cocaine from the detainees, suspected of air trafficking. Additionally, anabolic products, “a large quantity of money,” two vehicles, and various mobile phones were confiscated during the operation.
The suspects, consisting of three men and a woman aged between 32 and 66, began appearing before the judicial authority yesterday for initial court hearings and the application of preventive measures, a proceeding that will continue today.
The investigation by the authorities is ongoing.
