The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) apprehended a 30-year-old man on Thursday for using someone else’s identity during a driving test to obtain a driver’s license in Aveiro.
A statement released on Friday confirmed that the man was caught in the act on suspicion of crimes involving the use of another person’s identification documents, forgery of authentic documents, and computer-related fraud.
During the theoretical test, “questions arose regarding the identity of one of the candidates,” prompting police intervention. “Immediate investigations revealed that the suspect registered for and attended theoretical lessons at a driving school, posing as another individual known to him,” stated the notice.
Authorities explained that the identity theft resulted in the suspect successfully taking the theoretical test “and receiving a passing grade in the Instituto da Mobilidade e dos Transportes’ computer system.”
In response to the incident, the suspect was subjected to the measure of identity and residence terms.
