The PJ announced in a statement that they have located and arrested a foreign citizen in the Oeste region, following operational intelligence. This arrest was made under an international detention warrant issued by the judicial authorities in Brazil.
The 34-year-old man was subject to electronic monitoring due to an indictment for domestic violence, as stated by the PJ.
The statement outlined that notwithstanding the coercive measure imposed, the individual made repeated phone calls to the victim in November 2024, in a city in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, blatantly disobeying the restraining order which prohibited such contact. These communications included threats, harassment, and insults.
“Subsequently, he cut off the electronic bracelet and fled to Portugal,” the PJ detailed, adding that beyond domestic violence, the suspect is also indicted for stalking and disobedience.
The detainee will be presented to the Lisbon Court of Appeal, where a coercive measure will be sought with a view to extradition.
