The Judiciary Police, through the Criminal Investigation Department of the Azores, has arrested a 30-year-old man suspected of attempted homicide.
The incident is reported to have taken place on November 1, in the afternoon, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, Azores, according to a statement from the Judiciary Police.
The victim, a 24-year-old man, and the attacker allegedly had a “dispute over the purchase of synthetic substances for joint consumption,” which reportedly led the suspect to stab the other man.
“During the confrontation, the suspect approached the victim in a surreptitious manner, wielding a sharp instrument, with which he inflicted a blow causing a serious injury to the posterior thorax,” or back.
The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and has since been discharged.
The suspect was arrested and presented to judicial authorities, where a measure of house arrest was imposed.
