A 47-year-old man was arrested in Porto on Wednesday on suspicion of stalking and threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) said the suspect, who was not caught in the act of committing an offense, will be charged with the crimes of stalking, violation of privacy, computer-related forgery, and domestic violence.
Investigators report that the man created several fake profiles on social media with the intent to invade the victim’s privacy, causing her emotional and psychological harm.
Furthermore, he allegedly pursued and threatened her with death, “coercing her into restarting the relationship.”
The suspect is scheduled to appear for his initial judicial hearing on Thursday, where he will learn the coercive measures to be applied to him.
