The National Republican Guard (GNR) of Viana do Castelo confirmed today that they were called to a residential care home for the elderly due to a “reported incident of an alleged rape or an attempted rape”.
The Judicial Police (PJ) in Braga also confirmed being alerted to the situation.
The GNR of Viana do Castelo reported finding a 66-year-old man, the alleged perpetrator, and a 64-year-old woman at the site, both of whom are residents of the care home.
The two elderly individuals were transported to the hospital by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), which “had already been activated” before the GNR’s arrival, as noted.
The care home declined to provide any statements when contacted.
