
A report issued at 00:20 today highlighted that an Indonesian national had “fallen into the water” while boarding a fishing vessel.
The National Maritime Authority confirmed that a search was initiated immediately, coordinated by the Harbor Master and Local Commander of the Maritime Police in Aveiro, alongside crew members from the Aveiro Lifesaving Station and elements of the Local Maritime Police Command and Aveiro Port Authority. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was “floating between two vessels” and was already deceased.
According to the statement, a medical examiner from INEM confirmed the death, and after contacting the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the body was transported to the Baixo Vouga Legal and Forensic Medicine Office by the Fire Department. The statement also notes that the Judicial Police visited the scene and “has now taken over the investigation.”
