PJ seizes 14 kilos of hashish in the port of Ponta Delgada and detains two men

Two men were required to appear before the PSP on a regular basis, after being arrested in flagrante delicto and seizing around 14 kilos of hashish, as part of an operation in the port of Ponta Delgada, Azores, it was revealed today.

According to a statement issued by the Judicial Police (PJ), the arrests took place as part of a police operation carried out “on the commercial docks of the port of Ponta Delgada, which led to the seizure of approximately 14 kilos of hashish – which is equivalent to around 70,000 average individual doses per day – which were concealed inside merchandise”.

The arrests were made by the Judicial Police, through the Azores Criminal Investigation Department, in conjunction with the National Republican Guard – Cinotechnical Section.

The operation also included the collaboration of the Maritime Police, the PJ said in its statement.

Also according to the PJ, the detainees, aged 28 and 36, were brought before a court for questioning, and the coercive measure of periodic appearances at the local criminal police station was applied to them.
