A statement released today by the Cultural Center announces an exhibition curated by Portuguese curator Lara Zoig that showcases photography and drawings by the Mozambican artist. The display will be available to the public at the gallery until April 19.
“The ‘Continuidades 2.0’ exhibition explores the relationship between geometry, light, form, and visual narrative, presenting a dialogue between photographic records and graphic expression (…) it offers the public an aesthetic experience that challenges the boundaries between the documentary image of buildings designed by architects José Forjaz, João José Tinoco, and Nuno Craveiro Lopes, and artistic creation,” explains the Portuguese Cultural Center.
Additionally, a film work titled “Brisa Solar,” a three-part documentary series directed by José Nascimento and Ana Pissarra, will be presented alongside the exhibition. It is “a journey proposing a new perspective on the shared heritage of Maputo and Beira, revealing an inevitable kinship between Portugal and Mozambique.”
Mário Forjaz Secca was born in Mozambique in 1957 and studied physics in England. He later ventured into the field of Medical Imaging and Neurosciences, where he explored brain function through imagery.
His solo exhibitions include “Mtomoni Nono Andar,” “Porto de Pesca,” “A Magia do Nascer e do Pôr-do-Sol,” and “Continuidades.”
