The play ‘O céu da língua’, which premiered in Lisbon last year, is set to be performed in several cities.
The initial dates announced for the show in Lisbon at the Centro Cultural de Belém, June 24 and 25, “are already sold out”. Consequently, an additional performance has been scheduled for July 4 at the Coliseu dos Recreios.
‘O céu da língua’ will commence its tour in Faro on June 17 at the Teatro das Figuras, followed by performances in Coimbra on June 18 at the Convento São Francisco, Caldas da Rainha on June 19, Beja on June 20 at the Teatro Pax Julia, and Braga on June 21 at the Theatro Circo.
In June, the play will also be presented in Porto on the 22nd at the Coliseu, in Águeda on the 26th at the Centro de Artes, in Vila Real on the 27th at the Teatro Municipal, in Paredes on the 28th at the Centro Cultural, and in Setúbal on the 29th at the Fórum Luísa Todi.
The tour will continue in Leiria on July 1 at the Teatro José Lúcio da Silva.
The show ‘O céu da língua’ “combines ‘stand up comedy’ with spoken poetry and a dramaturgy that blends everything together.” According to Gregório Duvivier, it is a “poetic comedy.”
The actor and comedian shared in a statement that he wrote the play “to return to Portugal.”
“In this case, the stage came before the play: ‘the Teatro Aberto has three weeks in November,’ Hugo Nóbrega (the play’s executive producer) told me. ‘But it has to be a new play.’ Ah, what relief. Ah, what despair. I had long wanted to write this brand-new play. I had the pretext; all that was missing was the text. I invited Luciana Paes, my favorite actress in Brazil and the world, to direct the play and think about it with me,” he recalled.
Tickets for the various performances are now on sale.
Actor, writer, and screenwriter Gregorio Duvivier is one of the creators of ‘Porta dos Fundos’, the largest sketch channel in Brazil and one of the biggest in the world, with approximately 18.5 million subscribers on YouTube.
